NDFHS Mailing List

This Mailing List is for NDFHS Members only.
Queries about your research are NOT accepted.

Purpose
- The committee will use the NDFHS Mailing List to:
- Announce last minute changes of venue and speakers.
- Publicise new publications issued by the Society.
- List recent acquisitions by the Library.
- Highlight current vacancies and appointments.
- Put out calls for volunteers.
- Issue surveys and requests for information.
- Note developments on the web site.
- Carry news that may be of interest to the Membership.
- The NDFHS Mailing List will allow NDFHS members to:
- Suggest ways in which the Society can improve its range of services.
- Make constructive criticism of the Society, its Rules and publications.
- Comment on the general running of the Society.
- Respond to requests for information and help.
The NDFDHS Mailing List is NOT a general discussion group nor is it a means of
seeking help with your research. Genealogical or historical queries relating
to the area served by the Society may be sent to either the
NORTHUMBRIA or
DUR-NBL
Mailing Lists.
A number of Newsgroups also exist that deal with general queries. Check with
your service provider for further details.
Rules
All mailing lists have rules; here are ours.....
- The purpose of the list is to provide a rapid means of communication by the
Society to its Members, and for Members to provide feedback.
- The list is for Members of the Society only.
- You should only post messages that meet the criteria set out in (1) above.
- Queries relating to your research will not be accepted.
- Please be courteous at all times and do not post personal messages.
- Criticism is welcome but please ensure it is constructive.
- Your message must not include attachments.
- You should not quote large sections of copyright material.
- Your message must contain your First Name and Surname.
- Your message(s) may be rejected or destroyed by the Moderator.
- If your message is rejected or destroyed you have the Right of Appeal to
the Arbiter whose decision is final and binding.
- The Society, its Officers, the Moderator and Members cannot be held
responsible for the actions of Mailing List Members, their mail, or any direct or
consequential loss which results from material being posted and distributed on
the NDFHS Mailing List.
- The views of individuals are not necessarily those of the Society or its
Officers.
- By subscribing to the NDFHS Mailing List you accept the Rules.
The Mailing List has a Moderator - Kirsten Nielsen - to ensure Members obey the
Rules,
and an Arbiter in case of dispute.
The Moderator will reject a message if he decides that it breaches the Mailing
List rules.
If the Moderator rejects your message you may appeal against his decision to
the Arbiter whose ruling is final and binding.
To Subscribe to the List
- Send an empty email to ndfhs_mail-subscribe@ndfhs.org
- You will then be asked to confirm that you want to subscribe to the list.
- And finally you will be asked to supply your membership number.
- Your subscription will then be confirmed and you'll be given details of
how you can post and reply to messages on the list.
To Unsubscribe from the List:
- Send an empty email to ndfhs_mail-unsubscribe@ndfhs.org
