RESEARCH TO BE DONE

The cost is £4 for one event in one record (e.g. John JONES baptised at Stanhope about 1823, or Marriage of Thomas PAINE and Mary at All Saints. Newcastle about 1836, or James WILSON on 1881 Census for Durham or, Will of Matthew GAMET of Alnwick 1856-1860).

Notes:

  1. Only records kept at Percy House can be searched. (A catalogue is available from Percy House on fiche).
  2. Please do not send covering letters - only information on this form will be used.
  3. Searches will cover 2 years either side of the year specified (5 consecutive years) except for searches in the GRO Indexes of Births, Deaths or Marriages which will cover 8 consecutive quarters.
  4. The exact record to be searched must be specified, e.g. Baptism transcript of Newcastle, St Nicholas, or 1881 Census Index, or GRO Marriage Index). For searches of church register transcripts this means that the name of the particular parish or church must be given. - large towns such as Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham City or South Shields had several parishes and churches and in these cases simply stating the name of the town or city will not suffice.
  5. "Blanket" searches of un-indexed material cannot be undertaken (For census material only the 1881 census is indexed on a countywide basis - the 1851 census for all of Northumberland and most of Co Durham is indexed by area.)
