Analysing an old photo By Kelly Southworth

Wed 14 October @ 7:00 pm

We all have photos where we are uncertain who the subject is, and/or when it was taken. Sometimes they have been identified by others, but the identification is still questionable. Every photo contains clues to help date and identify the image. Knowing how to read these clues is an art.

If you would like help with 1 or 2 images from your family archive, please submit them as soon as possible and our presenter, Kelly Southworth, will use them in her presentation on October 14, 2026 to help us all learn more about dating and identifying our precious family photos.

Images should be scanned at a minimum of 300 dpi, and in colour. Please scan both the front and the back of the image, even if you think the back is blank! Please scan the entire photo, including any framing around the photo. Please do not crop. When sending the image, please include any information you have about it, including who you believe the subject(s) is, when and where it came from, dates, etc.

Email images to ne_roots@ndfhs.org.uk and they will be forwarded to Kelly.

Kelly reserves the right to limit the number of photos used in the presentation, due to time constraints.
